Hi, I’m Aya.

I’ve loved plants for as long as I can remember. I grew up between Northern California and Japan—running through open space preserves in California and spending time in Japanese gardens that quietly shaped the way I see landscapes. Those early experiences gave me both a sense of wildness and a deep appreciation for restraint, seasonality, and intentional composition.

Before offering horticultural services, I worked as a professional gardener, spending my days pruning, planting, observing, and learning directly from the landscape. That hands-on experience taught me that the most beautiful gardens aren’t just well-designed—they’re well-tended, well-understood, and allowed to mature over time.

I’m a Certified Professional Horticulturist, Certified Master Pruner, ecoPro certified, and trained in permaculture and holistic landscape design. These foundations inform the careful, practical way I approach each garden.

I work alongside homeowners to untangle design dilemmas, refine planting areas, and make thoughtful, confident decisions about their gardens. Sometimes that means editing an overgrown space. Sometimes it’s selecting plants that will truly thrive. Often, it’s slowing down and noticing what the landscape is already trying to become.

I believe gardens should feel alive, connected to place, and supportive of the people who care for them. My goal is to help you create a landscape that grows more beautiful—and more meaningful—with time.
